Fwix Launches Experimental Local Trend Search

Real-Time View of What's Happening at Any Place

SAN FRANCISCO, CA--(Marketwire - July 20, 2010) -  Fwix, the local information company, today launched a sneak peek of Local Trend Search, which gives users the ability to search for what's happening at any place right now. With Local Trend Search, Fwix adds to its fast-growing local content network and top-rated iPhone and iPad news app for more than two hundred markets in the English-speaking world.

Fwix Local Trend Search rounds up news, events, government data, business reviews, check-ins from Foursquare or Gowalla and more into a single view of a given location. The launch comes a month after the release of Local Index, a real-time index upon which anyone can build local applications -- using the Fwix API through customizable widgets.

"Answering the question, 'what's happening here' has always been one of our singular missions," said Darian Shirazi, Fwix CEO and founder. "We think of it as a gradual and natural evolution of our product offering and we're excited to give the world a peek at a beta version of our new Local Trend Search product."

Local Trend Search also opens doors for advertisers to target local advertisements at users. "Most of our current site searches are for local services and offers," said Adrian Druzgalski, Fwix CTO and co-founder, "which means that our product could potentially be the most hyper-locally targeted solution for advertisers as we scale."

Fwix Local Trend Search allows users to search for anything that is happening at any geo-point in the English-speaking world. To start using Local Trend Search, visit search.fwix.com.
