Pain: Everybody's talking.
But what's worth hearing? What are you missing? And what should you do with it?
Gain: Stretch your ears.
Now it's your chance to tune in. Whether it's positive or negative, knowing what
people are saying can help you craft your own messages and, ultimately, help shape
the conversation.

Workout: Start with a set of 10 listening topics.
Make a list of ten topics that interest you – five personal and five professional.
- Sign up for Google® Alerts on each of those topics. You can
choose the types of alerts (news, blogs, video) and how often you want them delivered
via email. Then you can sign into your Google account any time to manage your alerts.
- Search for your topics within Facebook®, LinkedIn® and Twitter®, too. Friend, fan, connect or follow
a few of the resulting names or groups that stand out.
- You can also sign up for accounts
at Digg®, Delicious™, StumbleUpon® and YouTube®. Keep in mind that these are
often more than social sharing sites.

Go the extra mile: Listen even more closely.
Follow @TrendingTopics
through Twitter. This is a great way to keep tabs on the most discussed topics on
Twitter at any time. But watch closely – it changes in the blink of an eye.
