YELLOWKNIFE, NORTHWEST TERRITORIES--(Marketwire - May 8, 2008) - Canadian Forces members today successfully helped locate a family of seven who had been missing for a week in a remote region of Nunavut after searchers followed a signal fire the family had lit. Canadian Rangers from Nunavut had joined in the search that also included Canadian Forces aircraft, RCMP personnel, and local volunteers. Searchers were able to locate the missing family after sighting their burning snowmobile and komatiq (sled) in a remote area of the Melville peninsula. The assistance of the Canadian Forces had been requested by the Nunavut Emergency Management Organization and RCMP due to the vastness of the search area and prolonged duration.

I completely agree with recent statements that it is in everyone's best interests to maximize the value of the Gulf crab fishery.

Over the past year stakeholders from across the crab industry have participated in numerous meetings and discussions about how to achieve the most value as product moves from "Ocean to Plate". People directly involved, whose livelihoods depend on the fishery, discussed ideas that could see maximum benefits go to harvesters, processors, plant workers, and everyone involved in the fishery.

OTTAWA, ONTARIO--(Marketwire - May 8, 2008) - Health Canada is reminding consumers who choose to use unapproved Ayurvedic medicinal products that some of these products may contain high levels of heavy metals. Consumption of excessive amounts of heavy metals, such as lead, mercury, and arsenic, pose serious health risks because they may accumulate in vital organs of the body. Children are most susceptible to the toxic effects of heavy metals.

In March 2008, a domestic case of heavy metal poisoning was published in the British Columbia Medical Journal, involving an adult male with symptoms of vomiting and diarrhea. The patient had been taking one tablet daily of the unauthorized Ayurvedic product Puspadhanva Rasa over a number of years to "increase vigour". Puspadhanva Rasa is manufactured by the Shri Dhanwantri Ayurvedic Pharmacy in India. The patient purchased this product in India and imported it into Canada for personal use. The product was found to contain extremely high levels

and businesses won't waste any time on the semantics because it will
certainly feel like one. A new report from the Milken Institute states that
the recession has arrived, with real GDP declining at an annual rate of 0.6
percent in the first quarter of 2008, followed by 0.9 percent in the
second. The study states that the Commerce Department's "advance" report on
first-quarter GDP will be revised to show a decline rather than the 0.6
percent gain currently estimated.

VANCOUVER, BRITISH COLUMBIA--(Marketwire - May 8, 2008) - According to the preliminary figures from Canada Mortgage and Housing Corporation (CMHC), the brisk pace of new home construction in the Vancouver CMA continued in April, keeping homebuilding for the first four months of the year well above homes started during the same period last year. Although single-family starts eased from last year's pace, new multiple-family developments remain the driver of increased homebuilding.

"Builders continue to start new residential projects to satisfy homebuyer demand throughout the Lower Mainland. The foundation of this demand rests in the region's buoyant economy, which is generating jobs and drawing people to the area," said Robyn Adamache, Senior Market Analyst with CMHC. "It is this demand, coupled with homebuyers seeking less expensive homes, that is promoting multiple-family home construction."

Taiwan's Semiconductor Companies Poised for Leadership in China: US-Taiwan Business Council Report

ARLINGTON, VA--(Marketwire - May 7, 2008) - The US-Taiwan Business Council, in its
"Semiconductor Quarterly Report - Q1, 2008," contends that liberalized
Taiwan investment policies will lead to further migration of less
profitable production into China, and to an integrated greater China
semiconductor market increasingly dominated by Taiwan companies.

Taiwan President-elect Ma Ying-jeou has declared that new investment
guidelines will focus on technology standards, export controls and
intellectual property rights. Under the new and liberalized guidelines,
China will be opened wider for business by Taiwan chipmakers --
particularly as Ma has pledged to follow U.S. guidelines for chip
technology transfers.
