PORT ANGELES, WA--(Marketwire - May 8, 2008) - Ewire -- In the wake of the destruction
and rising death toll caused by Cyclone Nagris, Mangove Action Project
(MAP) is calling for the re-establishment of mangrove buffer zones and
coastal greenbelts along affected coastal zones to avert future such
disasters.

"This latest disaster in Burma is a grim reminder of other recent natural
disasters," said Alfredo Quarto, MAP's executive director, referring to the
2004 Indian Ocean Tsunami that left over 200,000 dead or missing and the
1999 Super Cyclone that hit the coast of Orissa, India that killed over
10,000. "The force of the cyclone could have been greatly lessened and much
loss in life and property damage could have been averted if healthy
mangrove forests had been conserved along the coastlines of the Irawaddy
Delta," he added.

SoCal Business Leaders: Water Supply Challenge Is a "Once-in-a-Generation Opportunity"

LOS ANGELES, CA--(Marketwire - May 2, 2008) - As Southern California prepared for a
severe cutback in water deliveries, a coalition of business leaders and
former governors urged leaders in Sacramento to promote "aggressive and
immediate action" on water supply and infrastructure issues.

Under terms of a federal court decision handed down in August, the
Department of Water Resources is cutting its initial allocation for water
deliveries in 2008. The initial allocation was already expected to be lower
because of dry conditions in the Sacramento and San Joaquin regions, whose
rivers feed water from the Sierra Mountain Range to the Sacramento-San
Joaquin Bay-Delta and to State Water Project pumps.

Bennett Environmental Inc. Announces Claim From Prime Contractor on the Federal Creosote Project

OAKVILLE, ONTARIO--(Marketwire - May 2, 2008) - Bennett Environmental Inc. (TSX:BEV) (the "Company" or "BEI") today announced that the prime contractor on the Federal Creosote project has filed a complaint against the Company in a US court. The complaint also names a director and officer, an officer and a senior manager who are no longer with the Company. The complaint claims these three individuals colluded with an employee of the prime contractor relating to, among other things, the awarding of the Federal Creosote project during the years 2002 through 2004. On a joint and several basis, the complaint seeks approximately $5.3 million in damages from the Company, other parties unrelated to the Company, and the director, officer, and senior manager formerly with the Company. The outcome of this matter is not determinable and no amount has been recorded on the Company's financial statements in respect of the complaint. Management intends to defend against this complaint vigorously.

Rex Murphy Reality Check

OTTAWA, ONTARIO--(Marketwire - May 2, 2008) - Last night on CBC's The National, Rex Murphy got his facts wrong on biofuels. Here are the facts.

Rex Murphy Myth 1: "Biofuel releases 93 times the amount of greenhouse gas that would be saved..."

Reality: Mr. Murphy references a Science magazine article which is inherently flawed, and has been roundly discredited in the academic community. It bases its GHG calculations on 36 billion gallons of ethanol from corn in the U.S. The fact is the U.S. will never make that much corn ethanol. By law, it will max out at 15 billion gallons - the rest will be nonfood derived cellulosic ethanol. So much for Rex's commitment to "rationality and real science."
