Winnipeg Convention Centre Announces Naming Rights Opportunity

WINNIPEG, MANITOBA--(Marketwire - Jan. 31, 2013) - The Winnipeg Convention Centre is pleased to announce its search for a naming rights partner. With an extensive $180+ million expansion and renovation underway at the Winnipeg Convention Centre, this is a unique opportunity with tremendous potential for the partnership, the facility and the city.

"With the expansion, the Winnipeg Convention Centre will nearly double in size creating an iconic building in a highly visible location in the heart of downtown," said Klaus Lahr, President & CEO, Winnipeg Convention Centre. "With over $2 billion being spent on new convention infrastructure and attractions around Winnipeg, our thriving city is being repositioned as a complete destination for conventions in Canada. As our facility doubles in size, we'll be accommodating larger events and promoting our city and businesses to new markets in North America and around the world."

"With all the great things happening in our city, we've already been approached by potential corporate partners who are ready to invest in our new facility and the future of Winnipeg," Lahr added.

Thompson Sports and Entertainment, a leading naming rights and sports business consulting firm based in Winnipeg, will facilitate the corporate partner search.

"This is a unique marketing and branding opportunity," said Jeff Thompson, President & CEO, Thompson Sports and Entertainment. "Being a part of this exciting endeavour will put a company's name in front of over 664,000 people who will visit the facility or take in one of its almost 750 events every year which include consumer and trade shows, conventions, corporate events and national celebrations such as the Juno's, Grey Cup and Tim Hortons Brier. Combined with foot traffic through the building, there could be almost a million yearly impressions. It's a very exciting and high-profile marketing opportunity."

Thompson said he would be approaching local, national and international companies and philanthropists and will be looking for the right one committed to building a strong business partnership.
