LONDON, UNITED KINGDOM--(Marketwire - July 27, 2012) -
Big British Summer
This summer has been one of the most jam-packed and exciting for Britain in recent times.
Not only have there been several major sporting events, Britain also celebrated the Diamond Jubilee of Queen Elizabeth II, her sixtieth year on the throne, which attracted hundreds of thousands of tourists to the capital for the commemorative four-day weekend.
In addition to a Brit reaching the Wimbledon finals for the first time in 74 years, and London taking its turn to host the world's most widely anticipated and ancient international sporting competition, thousands of other international visitors were pulled into London by the BBC proms which are taking place between 25 July and 8 September and remain the world's largest classical music concert.
Predictions are that towards the end of the summer, London will be the busiest the city has ever been and according to Forward Data there will be 13% more tourists than usual in the capital city between now and the beginning of September. The London Department for Transport has estimated the figure to be around 600,000.
Celebrate with Whittard of Chelsea
To honour this exciting summer and celebrate the numerous competitions and events taking place, Whittard of Chelsea, a traditional English tea and coffee shop, have held a competition of their own as part of their celebration of the 'Best of British'.
A week ago, US customers and online visitors were asked to vote for their favorite Whittard drinks, whether tea, coffee or hot chocolate.
The winning blends have now been revealed.
They include: Loose English Breakfast Tea, Guatemala Elephant Coffee and Kenya Peaberry Coffee.
The blends that were chosen as US favorites are now being offered at the greatly reduced price of 3 packets for $16, a very reasonable offering for the high-quality and selectively sourced products. The instant teas and hot chocolates, which usually cost $9.25 each, are especially reasonable and particular favorites. To view these blends, visit our Whittard Champions page on the website.
