LONDON, UNITED KINGDOM--(Marketwire - Oct. 24, 2012) - Many women are put off by weight training for fear it will make them too muscular and bulky. Any certified personal trainer will tell you that this is simply not true. There are other myths about female body building which seem to more frequently than not put women off weight training, so what are the facts?
- Women cannot produce as much testosterone as men so it's impossible for females to gain the same amount of muscle mass as male body builders by lifting weights. It's easy to think of female body builders in this instance; however many of these women use steroids to reach that level of muscularity.
- Women should use very light weights, if any at all. This is nothing but a rumour. Muscle responds to resistance and if you're not using a heavy enough weight your body won't be changing shape and firming up to the best of its ability.
- Many women believe that weight training will make them stiff. However, by performing all the exercises through their full range of motion you'll actually improve your flexibility. Dumbbell presses and chin-ups will extend the muscle making your stretching capabilities increase.
- It's become a common myth that females only need to do cardio at the gym. Your body craves you to do weights so that it can create and form muscle tissue. If you didn't do weights, you run the risk of losing muscle tissue and undoing all your hard work.
So, if you want to look firm, toned and trim don't be afraid to get stuck in to weight training next time you're working out.
