LVIM is a free multi-specialty clinic offering on-site labs, x-ray, pharmacy and small surgical procedures to the working uninsured of Polk County in Florida. The clinic, which was established in 2001 and receives no government funding, is staffed by only 5 employees and the help of 180 volunteers including doctors, nurses, medical assistants, pharmacists, front desk, medical records. All medical services provided at the clinic are funded through private grants and its annual Lakeland Derby fundraiser.
The clinic began using Vitera Intergy practice management in May 2012 and is currently implementing Vitera Intergy EHR. Vitera Healthcare Solutions donated 23 computer monitors and four printers to facilitate the clinic's switch to EHR.
"Vitera is committed to engage its customers beyond their use of its products, as well as be an active participant of the community in which it operates and its employees live," said Matthew Hawkins, CEO at Vitera Healthcare Solutions. "We are pleased to support Lakeland Volunteers in Medicine in its transition to more advanced health care."
LVIM sees 30,000 patients a year making it the largest Volunteers in Medicine clinic in the country. Operational organization is a must for this thriving clinic.
