OTTAWA, ONTARIO--(Marketwire - Oct. 9, 2012) - In conjunction with Canadian Interuniversity Sport and Scotiabank Place, the host organizing committee for the 2013 Canadian Interuniversity Sport men's basketball championship - the Final 8 - announced today that VIP ticket packages will go on sale to the public on Wednesday, Oct. 17, at 10 a.m. Ottawa will welcome the Final 8 for the fourth time in March 2013, following a two-year hiatus that saw the tournament played in Halifax.
VIP tournament ticket packages for next year's Final 8 will provide access to each of the weekend's 10 games and are available starting at $150 per package. Quarter-final contests, which begin the tournament, are set for Friday, March 8, 2013. The package will also include a ticket to the 2013 MBNA Capital Hoops Classic on Wednesday, Jan. 23, at Scotiabank Place. The annual event will once again feature two games: a women's matchup between the Carleton Ravens and the Ottawa Gee-Gees at 6 p.m., followed by the men's contest between the same schools at 8 p.m.
Additionally, the package will also include an exclusive invite to a Ravens men's practice featuring Carleton head coach and Canadian senior men's national team assistant coach Dave Smart.
Scotiabank Place served as the national tournament's host venue in 2008, 2009 and 2010. More than 73,000 fans witnessed CIS basketball action when the top-seeded tournament host Ravens captured their sixth W.P. McGee trophy in seven years with a 10-point victory over UBC in the 2009 championship game. The Ravens once again serve as the host team as the tournament returns to Scotiabank Place for the next two years.
