DANBURY, CT--(Marketwire - Jul 9, 2012) - Global lead logistics provider Odyssey Logistics & Technology Corporation (OL&T) announced today that Vertellus Specialties Inc., a leading specialty chemical company, is expanding its managed logistics service agreement with OL&T to include its worldwide operations across Europe and Asia encompassing India and China. OL&T will continue to manage logistics services for Vertellus in North America for all modes of commercial transportation.
"We have worked closely with Vertellus domestically since 2007, and we are pleased that Vertellus has entrusted more responsibility to OL&T through a new multi-year, global contract," said OL&T President and Chief Executive Officer Robert Shellman. "Our goal remains to support Vertellus' business success by providing strategic and operational value through innovative ways to optimize logistics effectiveness."
"We are now looking to OL&T to help facilitate our goal in executing a worldwide program that offers a complete and consistent view of supply chain patterns throughout the different regions we serve," said Hugh Mitchell, corporate director of Global Supply Chain, Vertellus Specialties Inc. "This centralized approach will be key in helping us plan and better manage transporting products across our supply chain."
"The expansion of our partnership is the result of a comprehensive analytical data assessment that uncovered significant opportunities for operational efficiencies and cost savings through a centralized and highly-transparent logistics program," said Charlie Midkiff, VP Client Services, OL&T. "We did the homework and identified the gaps in transportation operations, and we are confident that by working together we will continue to uncover process improvements that optimize and streamline operations in multiple areas including supply chain management," he said.
During its initial engagement with OL&T, Vertellus became integrated with the Odyssey Global Logistics Platform(SM), a patented technology infrastructure that supports all modes of transport and global shipping scenarios, in a secure, hosted environment. The platform provides comprehensive planning, execution, visibility, event management and analytics functionality over a scalable data management and integration base. The technology provides a holistic view of a client partner's multiple enterprise resource planning (ERP) systems for greater interactivity, control and visibility.
