Vanuatu Selects WPCS for Renewable Energy Project


EXTON, PA--(Marketwire - Mar 20, 2012) - WPCS International Incorporated (NASDAQ: WPCS), a leader in design-build engineering services for communications and energy infrastructure, has announced that the Republic of Vanuatu, through its government agency, The Ministry of Lands and Natural Resources, has selected WPCS to design and deploy one of the first solar renewable energy systems for the island of Espiritu Santo. The Republic of Vanuatu received funding for this project from the Asian Development Bank.

The project consists of 40kw solar arrays that will be racked, mounted and connected to the electrical utility grid. The system is estimated to produce clean energy each day allowing for a reduction of the conventional electricity used on the island. The project will be managed by WPCS through its Australian Operations. The Republic of Vanuatu is an island nation in the South Pacific Ocean. The archipelago is located approximately 1,000 miles east of Brisbane, Australia and south of the Solomon Islands. The island of Espiritu Santo is the largest island in the Republic of Vanuatu.

The Ministry of Lands and Natural Resources has a charter to maintain that all lands and natural resources are managed in a sustainable manner. The government agency oversees all the functions associated with energy, geology, mines, water and conservation including the cost of utilities and environmental issues.
