U.S. Air Force Procures Desktop Alert Mass Notification System for Usage at Peterson Air Force Space Command Center and McGuire Air Force Base
Desktop Alert Publishes Mission-Critical Interactive Alerts to Thousands of Personnel for Real World Scenarios, Emergencies and Urgent Message Instruction
CHATHAM, NJ -- (MARKET WIRE) -- November 6, 2006 -- Desktop Alert, Inc. today announced the U.S.
Air Force Space Command (AFSPC) Center in Peterson, Colorado has selected
and purchased Desktop Alert Enterprise Servers for Mass Notification to
critical personnel. The server licenses purchased will guarantee alerts are
served to thousands of personnel and machines with critical content
delivery to desktops in less then one minute with state-of-the-art
emergency communications capabilities. The alert platform is built on the
Microsoft .Net Platform and integrates with Microsoft Active Directory.
The New Jersey based company has also been selected by McGuire U.S. Air
Force Base in New Jersey for a base-wide installation serving alerts to
upwards of 10,000 computers on the network.
"The alert system has performed superbly for McGuire base-wide, and the
team at Desktop Alert is to be commended for a superb product and an even
better support staff. The system was approved as secure and has bolstered
critical communications at the base," said Carlton Powell R SrA 305
CS/SCBNO, McGuire Air Force Base.
The alert platform offerings include the ability to publish alerts to
thousands of devices on the network for alerting desktops, laptops and
mobile devices. The platform architecture provides for alert publication
over an internet protocol (IP) created on the network. Alerts are sent over
the secure network using standard SOAP/XML packets over port 80. Protocol
usage would resemble:
http://desktopalert.basename.af.mil or https://desktopalert.basename.navy.mil
Templates may be created using the administration interface. Alert format
and content can be created and saved as a template for rapid future usage.
Templates can be quickly employed for publication automatically based on
predefined scenarios or manually by any authorized alert publisher
resulting in rapid alert publication. Other features such as alert reports
and who's-online are also standard amenities in the administration
interface.
The web-based management system provides three levels of access to the
alert interface that include administrator, moderator and end-user. These
accounts are created automatically based on the existing organizational
unit (OU) structure of the Active Directory.
The alert client application is easily deployed using standard software
advertisements for silent installations to all computers (SMS). All client
software has built-in Windows client authentication. The alert client
continually polls the network database for alerts on an interval as low as
every 30 seconds. Administrators can push the alert client installation to
a computer(s) or a un-installation to any computer(s). However, unless
requested, end-users cannot uninstall the alert software. The company also
provides all of the alert application source code to each base.
"The addition of the U.S. Military to our portfolio is a well received
reward for years of hard work. Our team is extremely proud of our software
and accomplishments, and we are honored by the selection. The U.S.
Department of Defense (DoD) published the Unified Facilities Criteria
(UFC), which requires that antiterrorism features be included in all force
protection plans and that mass notification systems be installed in all DoD
facilities worldwide by 2007. The MNS must be capable of providing
real-time information to all building occupants or personnel in the
immediate vicinity of a building during emergency situations. Our alert
platform has proven to be a perfect match for the U.S. Military in
complying with the DoD edict." Howard Ryan, CEO Desktop Alert Inc.
About Desktop Alert, Inc.
The Mass Notification System utilizes "Actionable Intelligence." The
ability to in-place intelligent methods, functions and triggers that
interact with and bring crucial data to and from end-users based on
end-user and/or management's predefined business rules and settings. To a
military base, an alert might be issued for a base recall, inclement
weather conditions or making sure that critical messages are delivered when
e-mail servers are experiencing problems or outages. The Mass Notification
System operates on Microsoft servers supported by a SQL database platform.
The alert platform seamlessly integrates with existing Active
Directory/LDAP organizational units and structure.
