Tokutek Receives Prestigious MySQL Community Award

Named Corporate Contributor of the Year 2013 for Ongoing Contribution to MySQL Community

SANTA CLARA, CA--(Marketwired - Apr 25, 2013) - Percona Live -- Tokutek, the leader in high-performance and agile database storage engines, today announced that it has received a MySQL Community Award for Corporate Contributor of the Year 2013. The award was presented at the community welcome reception at this year's Percona Live MySQL Conference and Expo in Santa Clara, CA.

Tokutek has been an active contributor and participant at MySQL conferences and user groups, as well as a participant in the IOUG MySQL council. Tokutek has also contributed patches to MySQL/MariaDB and to iiBench, an open source benchmark tool. In addition, Tokutek recently announced that it has open sourced the code for its MySQL storage engine, TokuDB.

The MySQL Community Awards are given annually to the people and companies that support the MySQL ecosystem. The MySQL Community Award for Corporate Contributor of the Year recognizes a company or other organization or entity that has made valuable contributions to the MySQL ecosystem either in terms of open source code, knowledge, funding or other resources or sponsorship. The winners are selected by an independent community panel.

"Open Source is about collaborating and contributing to build and benefit from something great together. We created the Corporate Contributor category for the MySQL Awards in order to recognize that this collaboration is not just between individuals in the community, but also corporate entities like Tokutek, which has participated in the MySQL community for many years," said Henrik Ingo, secretary of the MySQL Awards committee. "On behalf of the entire panel, I'd like to congratulate Tokutek for this award and for their recently announced open sourced TokuDB Community Edition product."

"Tokutek's active involvement in the MySQL community allows us to help advance both big data and cloud computing applications that rely on MySQL," said Lawrence Schwartz, VP of Marketing of Tokutek. "As one of the fastest growing and most innovative groups within the tech sector, the MySQL community enables many of the most forward-looking database use cases in the market today."

TokuDB continues to be the ideal choice for complex high-volume applications that require fast response time and that must simultaneously store and query large volumes of rapidly arriving data. These include social networking applications, metadata management, cloud enablement platforms, machine data and logfile processing, and eCommerce personalization. TokuDB is fully compatible with MySQL and MariaDB.
