Their Excellencies Invite the Public to the Citadelle of Quebec to Take Part in a Fall Celebration

OTTAWA, ONTARIO--(Marketwire - Sept. 18, 2012) - Their Excellencies the Right Honourable David Johnston, Governor General of Canada, and Mrs. Sharon Johnston invite the public to join them at the Residence of the Governor General at the Citadelle of Québec for a Fall Celebration, an event highlighting the benefits of physical activity, on Saturday, September 22, 2012, from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m.

"Sharon and I are pleased to open the doors of the official residence in Québec so that the general public can discover-or rediscover-the beauty of the Citadelle," the Governor General stated. "The Fall Celebration will also give us the opportunity to share our love of sports and of activities involving family and friends."

In addition to tours inside the residence, culinary demonstrations will be held in the Ballroom. Visitors will be able to taste apple and pumpkin seed granola, prepared by the chefs of the official residence. They will also have the opportunity to learn some of the finer points of dining etiquette and the art of table setting.

Various kiosks set up outside of the residence will offer young and old alike a chance to meet with sports enthusiasts and to take part in sports demonstrations. Children will be able to test their physical skills on an obstacle course designed by the members of the Royal 22e Régiment. Martial arts, ultimate frisbee, badminton, biathlon, freestyle skiing, curling, wheelchair basketball, Irish dancing and weightlifting will be amongst the featured sports and activities. Champion, Quebec Remparts' official mascot, will also be at the event. Snacks and apple cider will be served.
