The National Job Fair & Training Expo: Attend Canada's Largest Recruitment Event in Toronto on Sept. 30 and Oct. 1

Saskatchewan Premier Brad Wall and two cabinet ministers will attend on Tuesday, at 10 a.m., and will join more than 50 Saskatchewan employers

TORONTO, ONTARIO--(Marketwire - Sept. 29, 2008) - Where will you be on September 30 and October 1? The National Job Fair & Training Expo, presented in collaboration with major sponsors Toronto SUN, 24Hours, Employment Ontario and Saskjobs.ca, is proud to present a record-breaking 13th edition tomorrow and Wednesday at the Metro Toronto Convention Centre (North building, Hall C). This 13th edition brings together an impressive 172 multi-sector exhibitors presenting offers in more than 80 industry sectors in some 40 cities and eight (8) provinces. More than 800 recruiters, career specialists, HR professionals and admission officers will meet face to face with more than 10,000 motivated candidates expected to attend. Attendees will access more than 9,000 job, training, education and entrepreneurship offers, plus all career services onsite. Opening hours are from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. each day. The National Job Fair & Training Expo is Canada's most established, comprehensive and largest recruitment event open to the general public (adult candidates). As the most attended recruitment event in Ontario, all interested candidates are invited to visit and benefit from everything the fair has to offer.

"It is a must to attend because career is a lifelong process. It is particularly true in our fast changing world where most individuals face career, socio-economic and cultural environment challenges in today's employment market. A good strategy to develop its career is to keep an eye on different options on a continued basis," says Daniel Levesque, President and Founder, Show Manager. "Show goers will be able to experience face-to-face interaction with exhibitors that will offer opportunities in Ontario, Saskatchewan, Alberta, Nunavut, Prince Edward Island, Quebec, Manitoba and British Columbia. Recruiters from eight (8) provinces will be right here in Toronto to meet candidates from all sectors in person. It is exceptional."

In addition to the regular top-notch features organizers bring to every event, the fall 2008 fair has three new additions: the Saskatchewan Recruitment Zone, the Uniformed Services Recruitment Zone and the New Canadians Employment Consulting Centre.

Governments to support employment and to fight labour shortage

Governments are active at The National Job Fair & Training Expo to support employment and to fight labour shortage across Canada. Employment Ontario will promote the different ways job seekers, employers and students can access employment, training and apprenticeship programs. Organizations from the Government of Saskatchewan (Saskjobs.ca), the Government of Nunavut, the Government of Prince Edward Island and the Government of Canada will also be exhibiting.

The National Job Fair & Training Expo: The centerpiece of Saskatchewan's Toronto job mission

"Saskatchewan's diverse and growing economy has created huge opportunities for job seekers and businesses alike," says Advanced Education, Employment and Labour Minister Rob Norris. "Missions like this one will help us to extend those opportunities to greater numbers of people, and in so doing help to sustain our economic momentum."

The centrepiece of the Saskatchewan's Toronto job mission is Canada's largest career event, The National Job Fair & Training Expo. With 50 businesses represented, the Saskatchewan Recruitment Zone is the largest of any province after Ontario, and will make a strong impression on the 10,000 job seekers expected to attend.

Top-notch features

The fair consists of four main pavilions. The Employment Pavilion is comprised of six featured zones: The Ontario, Saskatchewan (new), Alberta, Relocation, Retail and Uniformed Services (new) recruitment zones. The three other pavilions are specific to Training & Education, Career Services and Entrepreneurship. The fair is completed with several interactive activities supporting the career development of all attendees, such as free New Canadians Employment Consulting Centre (new), free Professional Resume Assessment Centre, free Career Posting Zone, free Documentation Centre, free public presentations and free entrepreneurship seminars.

Opportunities are everywhere for everyone

Professionals and technical personnel, interdisciplinary individuals, bilingual (English-French) individuals, Canadians and New Canadians, internationally trained individuals, persons with disabilities, as well as new graduates and college and university students are welcome to attend.
