ATLANTA, GA--(Marketwire - Mar 8, 2013) - The Accounts Payable Network will present the 3rd Annual Accounts Payable & Purchase-to-Pay Leadership Conference, May 15-17, 2013, at Disney's Grand Floridian Resort & Spa in Lake Buena Vista, FL. The information-packed program includes 5 keynote/featured speakers, 24 breakout sessions, 3 pre-conference workshops, AP and 1099 certification training workshops, exhibition hall and many networking opportunities.
This year's keynote presentation will be delivered during lunch on the first day of the conference by Tom Golden, retired partner-in-charge of the Chicago Forensic and Investigative Services practice for PricewaterhouseCoopers, and lead author of the award-winning book A Guide to Forensic Accounting Investigation. His keynote address, Trust but Verify: How to Avoid Becoming a Fraudster's Next Victim, has received rave reviews from other groups he has spoken before. Dr. Joseph Wells, Founder and Chairman of the Association of Certified Fraud Examiners says, "When it comes to knowledge about fraud and white-collar crime, Tom Golden is at the top. And when it comes to communicating that knowledge to others, no one does it better." See for yourself what a great presenter Tom is -- take a look at this video.
"TAPN is thrilled to have Tom Golden address our audience," said TAPN CEO Phil Binkow. "Tom has his finger on the pulse of how deterioration in our culture of trust demands significant changes in our approach to leadership in accounts payable and purchase-to-pay."
After being deceived by a colleague, Tom Golden decided to start a forensic accounting investigations practice which grew to become the second largest fraud practice for PricewaterhouseCoopers in the US. Through his years of experience, Tom has seen organizations that have been victims of determined and skilled fraud. Fraud can cause severe reputational and financial stress for any organization and ruin financial professionals both professionally and personally. This lunch presentation will show attendees, what it took devastating frauds for Tom's clients to learn:
- Fraud today is epidemic. Most organizational fraud never becomes public. In fact, many perpetrators are not prosecuted out of the organization's desire to avoid adverse publicity, embarrassment, and civil lawsuits.
- Your external auditors are not responsible for finding fraud, even though they are responsible for searching for material fraud. You will learn why only 6% of all discovered financial frauds are first detected by the external auditor.
- Your internal auditors, most likely have not been trained in the art of forensic accounting investigation... even if they are CPAs.
