Tervita Office Will Support Growing Saskatchewan Resource Sector

SASKATOON, SASKATCHEWAN--(Marketwired - May 23, 2013) - Tervita Corporation, a leading North American environmental and energy services company, officially opened its new office in Saskatoon today to support responsible and sustainable resource development in the province.

Saskatchewan Premier Brad Wall attended the grand opening.

"We are very pleased that Tervita is expanding its operations in Saskatchewan," said Premier Brad Wall. "It has always been part of our growth plan to take every opportunity to encourage more jobs and a greater Saskatchewan presence by companies like Tervita."

Tervita's Saskatoon office will serve as its headquarters for its northern Saskatchewan operations. More than 250 jobs over the next five years are expected to be created as a result of increased business generated through the new office.

Tervita president and CEO John Gibson said the office will help serve customers better, particularly in northern Saskatchewan's growing potash mining industry.

"We are proud to become a permanent part of Saskatoon's business community," said Gibson. "As resource development continues and the economy grows, there is tremendous opportunity in Saskatchewan. We are pleased to partner with the oil, gas and mining sectors to minimize impacts and maximize returns."

Tervita offers a variety of environmental solutions to oil, gas and mining companies in Saskatchewan including waste disposal facilities in Arcola, Unity, Kindersley, Gull Lake, Marshall and Lamond. It also has an office in Weyburn and a bioremediation facility in Regina.

As part of Tervita's commitment to the community and environmental research, it has a five-year, $250,000 partnership with the University of Saskatchewan and others to establish innovative tools and best practices for the reclamation of oil sands mining sites, through the Forest Watershed and Riparian Disturbance III project (FORWARD III).
