Team FXPRIMUS Aylezo once again showed their dominance and class at the third round of the Malaysian Super Series. Held this past weekend, 13th - 15th of July, the Team once again took the chequered flag in first place with the Team's specially prepared Lotus 2-Eleven.
Just like the second round which took place back in May, the third round of the Malaysian Super Series featured the same format where each team had to race for a full hour, with a mandatory five minute pit stop allowed at any time within the race.
This is the second time that the Team has taken first place this year after taking first place in the second round of the MSS in May 2012. The third round of the MSS is also the Team's fourth race this year. The first being the inaugural Gulf 12 Hours race in Abu Dhabi where the team took a much deserved second place, and the second being the first round of the Malaysian Super Series, which took place as a support race for the Malaysian Formula 1 Grand Prix, the team came home in third place in that race.
Team driver Zen Low didn't have an easy race though he was leading the second car by a comfortable gap of over thirty seconds. "We took this opportunity to better understand our tyres, so we used the same tires from the previous race just to learn about the compound and how much stress it can take. Till now the tires have done over 80 laps and we still came home in first place, that's great news for us and now we know how to better prepare our car, and I know how to improve my driving style to save tire degradation," said Zen when asked to comment on the race.
Speaking about the race in general, Zen added, "Besides the tires, it was an otherwise great race though it was incredibly hot which is always a challenge here in Sepang. I had a comfortable gap over the second placed Aston Martin, but it wasn't easy. At first he was just two or three car lengths behind me, so I had to push which was dangerous because we were running on used tires, but the Lotus has more cornering speed so by the end of the race, I was leading the Aston by at least thirty seconds, which is a great result for all of us here in the team."
Terry Thompson, President of FXPRIMUS was once again elated by the result, commenting on the race, Terry said, "We didn't have a very easy start this year, but now we better understand the car and our competitors. We also have an incredible team and pit crew, all this combines to bring back a great result. Zen drove brilliantly and kept his cool in the early stages of the race when he was being challenged by a more powerful car. This also demonstrates our values at FXPRIMUS where we don't buckle under pressure. This is a great result for us and for our company. Our customers will be delighted to know our result and how we are transferring our company values to our race team."
Team FXPRIMUS Aylezo is now preparing to contest in Round 4 of the Malaysian Super Series which will take place in September at the Sepang International Circuit.
