Synacor White Paper Outlines End-to-End TV Everywhere Solution

Completes Integration of Turner Broadcasting's Networks and Suddenlink

BUFFALO, NY--(Marketwire - Jun 8, 2011) - Today, Synacor released a comprehensive white paper designed to provide programmers and multi-video programming distributors (MVPDs) with a basic primer focused on the fundamentals and requirements of an end-to-end TV Everywhere solution. The white paper is vendor agnostic and addresses topics including: video player options, metadata and authentication of subscribers. Turner Broadcasting System, Inc. (TBS, Inc.), a leader in the TV Everywhere initiative, also contributed to the white paper and has recently deployed TV Everywhere content to approximately 1.4 million Suddenlink customers utilizing components of the end-to-end solution.

The goal of the white paper is to accelerate consumer adoption of TV Everywhere by providing the industry with a scalable, accessible and effective solution to authentication. Consumers expect to access video content when and where they want and the industry is striving to meet those expectations. In order to do so, MVPDs and programmers need an easily accessible overview of how TV Everywhere actually works, and how they can deliver compelling TV Everywhere experiences to consumers.

The white paper is organized into two distinct sections: an overview of the TV Everywhere experience from a consumer perspective, followed by a detailed examination of best practices applied to the implementation of TV Everywhere technology. The paper follows the flow of video assets from initial staging through delivery to authorized users and the flow of metadata from origination to end publishing. It also includes a checklist for planning, integration, testing and launch.

"Consumers are demanding that content they pay for be available in a variety of ways, it's our job to create an elegant solution that gives them a complete end-to-end online video experience for television programming and web video," said Synacor COO Scott Bailey. "A complete TV Everywhere solution allows MPVDs and programmers to extend their brands and customer ownership to the web, tablet and mobile devices."

"As we progress with bringing more and more video content on more and more platforms, solutions like this bring us one step further in delivering real world value for consumers anywhere and everywhere," said Jeremy Legg, senior vice president of Business Development and Multi-Platform Distribution for Turner Broadcasting System, Inc. (TBS, Inc.). "There are many tools in the marketplace to address what authentication is and why it is important. The Synacor white paper demonstrates how TV Everywhere actually works and our partnership with Suddenlink is a great example of what other content creators can be doing to accelerate TV Everywhere integration."
