STAMFORD, CT--(Marketwire - Jul 19, 2012) - Dr. Edward Shukovsky, a cosmetic dentist in Stamford, recently returned from the 2nd Annual Advanced Level Reunion Meeting for Six Month Smiles. The meeting was held in Boston, MA at the Westin Boston Waterfront and featured dentists from across the country who gathered to hear lectures on the latest in cosmetic orthodontics and dental positioning. Having attended numerous lectures at the ALR meeting, Dr. Shukovsky says he is excited to bring back a host of new techniques and experience to his Stamford and Fairfield patients to improve their smiles and gain confidence with procedures such as Six Month Smiles® and Invisalign®.
The ALR 2012 meeting provided attendees with advanced level clinical training in how to perform the Six Month Smiles® System procedure accurately and effectively. A cosmetic braces system designed to straighten teeth in a shorter amount of time than traditional treatments, Dr. Shukovsky says the Six Month Smiles® System utilizes innovative orthodontic techniques and clear brackets to help patients correct their malpositioned teeth through a quick and discreet treatment. He says the conference in Boston allowed him to hone his skills in performing the procedure and improve his ability to provide his patients with a successful smile makeover: "The meeting was really exciting and quite educational. I especially enjoyed listening to Dr. Noel Ananthan from Ontario, Canada. Dr. Ananthan showed patients that were treated by Six Month Smiles that were some of his more challenging cases. The results were wonderful. I also got to share some time with my friend and mentor from Dallas, Texas, Dr. Kent Smith. Kent lectured on systems in place in the treatment of Six Month Smiles, all for the benefit of the patient."
Dr. Shukovsky, who regularly attends educational courses and lectures throughout the year, says staying up-to-date with the latest techniques and innovations in cosmetic dentistry is essential to providing the highest quality care to his patients. Also having attended the recently-held annual meeting for the American Academy of Dental Sleep Medicine, he says collaborating with other top minds in the field of dentistry is a unique and enriching educational opportunity: "If a dentist doesn't take the time to learn the newer techniques and materials, the patient is not getting the benefit of the latest care. New methods are constantly being developed and it is the doctor's responsibility to keep up. Plus, learning new things is fun."
Regardless of whether patients are looking for the Six Month Smiles® System or another procedure such as Invisalign®, the Fairfield dentist says he recommends anyone considering dental treatment to consult with an experienced and qualified dentist before taking action. He says taking the time to find a practice who has dedicated countless hours to perfecting their techniques will ultimately help patients achieve the safest and most effective treatment possible: "Cosmetic Dentistry is constantly evolving. Things that we did two to three years ago have changed, sometimes significantly. So the cosmetic dentist must look at many factors such as alignment of the arch, shape, overall smile, shade of the teeth, soft tissue, and then be able to discuss this with the patient. Knowledge of the latest materials and techniques will aid in the discussion and treatment."
