Solange Knowles Signs a Worldwide Co-Publishing Deal With EMI Music Publishing
HOUSTON, TX--(Marketwire - August 20, 2007) - Big Jon Platt, Executive Vice President/Head of
Urban at EMI Music Publishing, recently signed Solange Knowles to a
worldwide co-publishing deal. Precociously talented, Solange Knowles has
written and co-written songs for Destiny's Child, Kelly Rowland, Michelle
Williams, Trin-I-Tee 5:7, and Beyoncé. Her most recent lyrical hits
include Beyoncé's "Get Me Bodied," "Upgrade You," and "Flaws and All" from
the multi-platinum selling album, "B'Day." Additionally, she wrote "Home
For The Holidays" for Wal-Mart's national holiday commercial campaign.
Solange is currently in the studio recording her forthcoming album,
"Solange & The Hadley Street Dreams" for which she has co-written every
single song.
"Solange first came to our attention four years ago when her father and
manager, Mathew Knowles, pointed her out to me. Immediately I knew
something was there, that special quality that's hard to define, but one
that you can't miss. Since then, we have come to know her as a songwriter
of remarkable versatility and steady determination. She is a true
professional and someone with a long and exciting career ahead of her,"
says Big Jon Platt, who signed the deal along with former Music World
Executive and East Coast Creative Director, Omar Grant.
Solange has been busy as of late promoting Baby Jamz, the first ever
hip-hop/rhythm inspired toy line for preschoolers brought to you by Mathew
Knowles' Music World Entertainment and Planet Toys. She is executive
producer of the CD, updated hip-hop inspired nursery rhymes, and the music
featured in all of the toys. Solange's son, Julez, is the face of Baby
Jamz.
