Sharpe Properties Assisted Norman Braman in His Fight to Recall Miami-Dade County Mayor Carlos Alvarez

MIAMI, FL--(Marketwire - October 26, 2010) - In an effort to assist businessman Norman Braman in his crusade to oust Miami-Dade Mayor Carlos Alvarez, Sharpe Properties, a full-service real estate company, donated space for Braman to open up signing tables at its Miller Heights Shopping Center, located at 9381 SW 56th Street, Miami, Florida 33165. Infuriated by Mayor Alvarez's decision to raise property taxes, Braman launched an aggressive campaign to get signatures from 4% of the registered voters (estimated to be 48,000 voters) for the recall election against Mayor Alvarez. Late Monday night, Braman announced at a press conference that he had collected 90,000 signatures from registered voters, more than enough to move forward with the recall.

"I have been handling property tax appeals in Miami-Dade for over 30 years," said Barry Sharpe, President of Sharpe Properties. "Property owners have the right and ability to appeal their property value, but not their tax rate. Under the budget set by Mayor Alvarez, not only will the tax rate increase allow the County to continue receiving around the same amount of property tax, but will also give a $132 million salary increase to County employees... all at the expense of property owners. If the property owners are now forced to cut costs, the County should also."
