OTTAWA, ONTARIO--(Marketwire - June 27, 2012) - The Ottawa Senators today launched the organization's We Mean Business campaign, an initiative to inform prospective clients about the impact that doing business with the club can have on their organization and in the community. This business-to-business marketing program is aimed at helping the Senators achieve a goal of selling 500 pairs of season seats in the 100- and 200-levels of Scotiabank Place during the off-season.
"As one of the economic drivers in this community, we hope that we have earned the support of businesses within our region," said Senators president Cyril Leeder. "We have put in place an affordable ticket pricing structure, established a first-class guest experience and will continue to put an exciting and competitive team on the ice."
Currently, the Senators' season-seat renewal process is underway, with the organization projecting to have 11,500 season seats committed for next year, before any additional new season seats are sold. Renewal rates currently sit at 93 per cent for full-season seats and 89 per cent for half-season packages. The We Mean Business campaign will push toward the Senators' goal of 13,000 season seats for the 2012-13 season.
"We are asking the principals within the local business community to give us 15 minutes to demonstrate to them how a partnership and Senators season tickets can be a win-win for both parties," said Senators vice-president of marketing Jeff Kyle. "Our region is made up of passionate, loyal consumers and employees who are knowledgeable about our brand. We feel there is still room to educate businesses in our community about the advantages that can come as a result of a partnership with the Senators organization."
Since 2002, the Senators, through a variety of special events, from the Bell Capital Cup to the NHL all-star game, have generated more than $425 million in economic activity in the Ottawa region. In addition, the Senators and the Sens Foundation have raised more than $65 million, which has been re-invested into community initiatives across eastern Ontario and western Quebec.

The Sens Foundation today introduced the organization's community report, which outlines in detail the efforts to make the Ottawa region a better place to live and do business.
Highlights of this season's community contributions by the Senators and Sens Foundation:
- In partnership with the City of Ottawa, the Senators and Sens Foundation completed the Rink of Dreams, a 12,500-square-foot skating rink on the grounds of Ottawa City Hall. After the official ribbon cutting, the Sens Foundation donated the $2-million Rink of Dreams back to the City of Ottawa and the people of our community.
- During the 2011-12 season, more than 2,000 pieces of hockey equipment were collected and distributed to deserving children in the Ottawa region through a variety of Senators-sponsored programs.
- This year, more than 13,000 participants benefited from hockey programs, events and clinics hosted by the Senators and their partners, including the Bell Capital Cup, Future Sens, Tim Hortons Coaches Clinics, Scotiabank Girls Hockeyfest and the Scotiabank Skaters program.
- This season the Sens@School program provided more than 1,000 elementary school teachers and an estimated 25,000 students with online curriculum-based lesson plans that integrate hockey and learning in the areas of language arts, math, fine arts, health, physical education and nutrition.
- The Sens Foundation was responsible for 30 per cent of the annual operating budget of Roger's House in 2011.
- The Sens Foundation recently fulfilled a $1-million commitment to the Children's Hospital of Eastern Ontario. These funds purchased a highly sophisticated computer-based Clinical Decision Support System, which is used in the Infant and Toddler Medical Unit.
- Senators players, alumni, staff and Spartacat made more than 1,000 appearances in the community this year.
- Thanks to the Senators' generous season-seat owners, the Cheer for Charity ticket program received more than 2,500 game and event tickets valued at over $142,000, enabling underprivileged youth to attend games and events at Scotiabank Place.
- The Sens Foundation directly engaged more than 3,000 volunteers with its 50/50 raffle program and fundraising events. These volunteers contributed 22,000 hours of their time, and as a result, the Sens foundation was able to generate a net investment of $1.5 million back into the community.
