BOZEMAN, MT--(Marketwire - Oct 18, 2012) - Schedulicity (www.schedulicity.com), the leader in online scheduling for appointment-dependent small businesses, today announced it is joining the fight against breast cancer with a year-long initiative in affiliation with the Wyoming Women First project -- a collaboration among GE, the State of Wyoming and Susan G. Komen for the Cure®. The Wyoming Women First project provides women in rural communities throughout Wyoming with access to free mammograms using a mobile van -- or "Mammovan."
By using Schedulicity's premier appointment scheduling services, women can now schedule appointments online for a free mammogram -- a service that will be provided to underinsured and uninsured Wyoming women in a state that has consistently ranked last in the nation for screening rates. Limited funding, lack of education and awareness and extremely limited access to screenings due to the state's rural landscape, where the average resident lives more than 70 miles from the nearest healthcare provider, are all factors.
The 2010 Center of Disease Control study analyzing breast cancer screening rates found the overall screening rate for Wyoming women 40 and older is 67.3 percent, compared to the United States median rate of 75.6 percent. Wyoming breast screening rates ranks among the lowest in the United States at 48th place.
"We are extremely proud to support the Wyoming Women First's fight against breast cancer and make early detection of this disease possible," said Jerry Nettuno, founder and CEO of Schedulicity. "Schedulicity is honored to be able to provide our service for such an important cause, and we look forward to the opportunity of continuing our relationship should the initiative expand to include additional states."
Launched in September, Wyoming Women First is part of GE's healthymagination commitment to accelerate cancer innovation by investing $1 billion in cancer technology research and development as well as improve care for 10 million cancer patients around the world by 2020.
