ORLANDO, FL--(Marketwire - Oct 17, 2012) - RGB Networks, the leading provider of scalable multiscreen IP video delivery solutions, is demonstrating to attendees here at the SCTE's Cable-Tec Expo (booth #443) how its advanced technologies enable cable operators and other video service providers (VSP) to meet the new challenges of an evolving multiscreen IP video environment. With "Multiscreen 2.0" solutions for the next generation of TV Everywhere, RGB Networks will highlight how operators can reduce costs and streamline operations in live, on-demand and time-shifted environments; monetize service across screens with hyper-targeted adaptive bitrate (ABR) ad insertion; ensure the seamless delivery of surround sound across IP devices; and use loudness correction to meet the December deadline for complying with the Commercial Advertising Loudness Mitigation (CALM) Act.
"Now that we have significant multiscreen deployments under our belt with some of the world's largest operators, we're entering the 'Multiscreen 2.0' phase as we offer solutions to help our customers to improve efficiencies in their deployments, add new offerings and monetize their services," said Ramin Farassat, Vice President, Product Marketing and Business Development for RGB Networks. "At Cable-Tec Expo, RGB Networks will highlight Multiscreen 2.0 solutions for the next phase of deployments, as well as offering support to those operators still looking to take their first steps into IP video."
eVIA: The Most Comprehensive Multiscreen Solution
RGB Networks has developed its Enhanced Video Intelligence Architecture (eVIA) expressly to address the complex and changing requirements of the multiscreen world, and by VSPs' need to maintain their revenue streams in this new environment. This unique suite of products offers a wide range of integrated capabilities, with the following being highlighted at Cable-Tec Expo:
- On-Demand Multiscreen Solutions: Complementing its powerful live delivery solution, eVIA offers a flexible set of options to meet a wide range of on-demand delivery needs, while reducing cost and streamlining operations. A demonstration will illustrate a multi-product workflow from RGB for VOD and nDVR applications. In addition to the award-winning just-in-time packaging (JITP) function fulfilled by RGB's TransAct Packager, it illustrates upstream file-to-file transcoding through the new TransAct Encoder/Transcoder and live capture workflow with RGB's Video Multiprocessing Gateway (VMG) feeding a TransAct Packager in recording (asset preparation) mode.
- Standards-Based Multiscreen Ad Insertion: First demonstrated at last month's CableLabs Interop event, this joint solution is comprised of the BlackArrow Advanced Advertising System and RGB's Ad Insertion for Multiscreen (AIM) solution, which together form the industry's first standards-based, end-to-end system for addressable ad insertion in an HTTP adaptive streaming video delivery environment. It combines the exceptional transcoding of RGB's Video Multiprocessing Gateway (VMG) and TransAct Encoder/Transcoder and the unique capabilities of the TransAct Packager with the advanced targeting intelligence of the BlackArrow system to create a fully integrated solution for the scalable delivery of targeted ads that are fully addressable to specific devices and viewers.
- Surround Sound for Multiscreen: The Dolby® Digital Plus codec takes multiscreen audio to the next level, allowing VSPs to deliver surround sound via various adaptive streaming protocols to the home. RGB supports this audio codec in IPTV and multi-bitrate modes on both the TransAct Encoder/Transcoder and VMG. This audio demonstration will show different profiles with different Dolby Digital Plus stream bitrates and highlights seamless switching between various profiles.
- Automatic Loudness Correction: RGB is delivering automatic loudness correction capabilities that will enable operators to meet the upcoming December deadline for CALM Act compliance by consistently maintaining a steady audio loudness within a channel, and across channels.
Executives from RGB Networks will be available at booth #443 throughout Cable-Tec Expo 2012, taking place October 17-19 in Orlando, Florida, to answer questions and provide demonstrations of how RGB Networks is leading the development of Multiscreen 2.0 solutions for the next phase of TV Everywhere.
