The purpose of the press conference is to discuss the findings of the Nobel Women's Initiative delegation, following meetings with women, community, government, industry and First Nations leaders in Alberta and BC over the past week. The delegation has heard firsthand the challenges and impacts women are enduring and expect to endure as a result of tar sands development and related pipeline and tanker projects.
Speaking at the press conference and answering media questions on behalf of the Nobel Women's Initiative are Nobel Peace Prize Laureate Jody Williams; Canadian singer-songwriter, Sarah Harmer; and Kandi Mossett, an activist with the Indigenous Environmental Network.
