SANTA CLARA, CA--(Marketwire - Sep 27, 2012) - Power Assure®, Inc., a data center infrastructure and energy management solutions provider, today announced it has been named a finalist in the Platts Global Energy Awards, an annual program recognizing exemplary industry leadership. "We congratulate all of the finalist companies and individuals, and we look forward to honoring their accomplishments when we unveil the 2012 Global Energy Award winners in November at our fourteenth annual awards dinner," said Larry Neal, president of Platts.

Power Assure was selected a top 10 finalist in the Rising Star Company category. The Rising Star Company recognizes the achievements of either a genuine startup business or an existing business that has moved into a brand new field. Elbowing into a new space in an already crowded industry takes guts, flawless execution, brilliant marketing and a tremendous organizational ability to learn fast. Judges selected finalists on their ability to have used these skills to establish themselves as equal to, or better than, existing players in any energy industry field or discipline.

"We are very pleased to be named a finalist in the prestigious Platts Global Energy Awards competition," said Brad Wurtz, president and CEO, Power Assure. "This recognition is acknowledgement that the data center industry is ready to take the next step in energy savings and efficiency. After taking facilities efficiency about as far as it can go, IT organizations are now starting to look at ways to increase server utilization, which is by far the largest lever they have to reduce power consumption. Power Assure's Runbook Automation software allows IT organizations to increase utilization by shutting off servers when they aren't needed, and bringing them back on again as demand increases and the servers are required. This 'demand-driven' data center responds instantly to real-time changes in customer demand, and can cut power costs by 50-70%."

Established in 1999 and often described as "the Oscars" of the energy industry, Platts Global Energy Awards highlight corporate and individual innovation, leadership and superior performance in 19 categories spanning the entire energy complex.

More than 500 guests are expected to attend the black-tie dinner at New York's Cipriani Wall Street on Thursday, November 29, when the 2012 Global Energy Awards will be emceed for a third year by CNBC Television anchor Amanda Drury and presented by Platts and principal sponsor Capgemini, which returns for its 10th consecutive year. Elster, one of the world's largest electricity, gas and water measurement and control providers, is a co-sponsor of the event for the 5th consecutive year.

The Awards dinner will be preceded by an associated daytime event, the Platts Global Energy Outlook Forum, which features debate and roundtable discussions by energy executives, government officials and other industry leaders on the topic, "Fuel Fight: Environment meets Economics."
