SAINT-JEAN-SUR-RICHELIEU, QUÉBEC--(Marketwire - Aug. 31, 2012) - Today, Royal Military College Saint-Jean (RMC Saint-Jean) held its traditional Obstacle Course, which is the culmination of the Orientation Programme and marks the official welcoming of the new officer cadets into the Cadet Wing.
"Over 140 officer cadets participated in the 2012 edition of the Obstacle Course, which is composed of 12 distinct obstacles," explains Colonel Guy Maillet, Commandant of the Royal Military College Saint-Jean. "This Obstacle Course, which challenges the participants' endurance and team spirit, will make for unforgettable memories."
More than a physical challenge, the Obstacle Course demands the participants' analysis, quick reaction, as well as efficient management of resources, time, and effort to overcome each obstacle. The Obstacle Course develops teamwork, determination, endurance and perseverance.
Following the Obstacle Course, officer cadets received their College badge during a parade, officially becoming part of the Cadet Wing.
The mission of RMC Saint-Jean is to prepare officer cadets for successful careers as commissioned officers in the Canadian Forces by means of its academic, leadership, sports and bilingualism programmes. These are the four components on which RMC Saint-Jean's curriculum is based. The College helps officer cadets achieve a smooth transition from high school to university by providing college-level and first-year university programmes in Science and Social Science in both official languages.
