OTTAWA, ONTARIO--(Marketwire - Dec. 19, 2012) - Today, the Honourable Lisa Raitt, Canada's Labour Minister, announced the reappointment of Ms. Elizabeth MacPherson as Chairperson of the Canada Industrial Relations Board (CIRB) for a two-year term, effective January 1, 2013.
"I am pleased that Ms. MacPherson has accepted a reappointment to the CIRB," said Minister Raitt. "Ms. MacPherson's labour relations experience and her understanding of its challenges will remain valuable to the Board."
Ms. MacPherson has held executive positions in labour relations within a number of organizations in both the public and the para-public sectors. Prior to her appointment to the CIRB in 2008, Ms. MacPherson was the Director General of the Federal Mediation and Conciliation Service with Human Resources and Skills Development Canada's Labour Program for nine years.
The Canada Industrial Relations Board is an independent, representational, quasi-judicial tribunal. Its mandate is to interpret and to apply the provisions of Part I of the Canada Labour Code.
