OTTAWA, ONTARIO--(Marketwire - Aug. 29, 2012) - The Quartier Vanier Merchants Association (BIA) is proud to present the official unveiling of a series of 10 indigenous butterfly and plant murals on Thursday August 29, 2012 at the Quartier Vanier BIA, located at 297 Montréal Road beginning at 4:30 PM.
This original and exciting art project which will adorn the buildings of our commercial zone is part of the BIA's efforts in discouraging vandalism, while beautifying our mainstreets (McArthur, Beechwood avenues and Montréal Rd.).
With Ontario Arts Council support, well-known Ottawa Artist Nicole Bélanger, worked with the Wabano Mamawi Centre in completing the art installations. The theme Quartier Vanier emerging like a butterfly symbolizes our community's transformation thru various new institutional, commercial and residential developments.
This project marks the rebirth of one of Ottawa's most historical districts, east of the downtown.
Come meet the members of the QV BIA board and artist/muralist Madame Bélanger along with Wabano Centre, executive director Allison Fisher.
Refreshments and food will be served.
