WHAT:
A meeting with Con-way Freight employees and a tour of the company's Glen Mills freight service center. Rep. Meehan will have the opportunity to interact with professional truck drivers, "walk the dock" and view active cross-dock loading and unloading operations. He will also get hands-on demonstrations of the daily functions of a modern commercial freight trucking enterprise. The meeting will conclude with Rep. Meehan participating in a "ride-along" with a Con-way Freight senior driver to obtain perspective from the cab of a commercial freight truck.
The service center employs 41, has a fleet of 21 tractors and 64 trailers, operates 24/7 and processes some 10 million pounds of commercial and industrial cargo a month. The 34-door dock facility receives and distributes less-than-truckload (LTL) freight from hundreds of businesses in in the Greater West Chester, Pa., area.
