OTTAWA, ONTARIO--(Marketwire - Oct. 18, 2012) - Private (Pte) John Jack Friel's graveside memorial will take place at St Mary's Cemetery in North Bay, Ontario. Approximately 15 Army reservists from The Algonquin Regiment will conduct the graveside memorial service to honour the World War I veteran who died in North Bay, ON in 1965 and was buried in St. Mary's Cemetery.

What: The ceremony will begin at 10:30 a.m. at Pte Friel's grave with military honours as well as the dedication of the newly-placed grave marker. John Friel enlisted in the 159th
Battalion (Algonquin Rifles) of the Canadian Expeditionary Force in 1916, served overseas, and was wounded in action on three occasions. Two of his brothers enrolled in the same unit and one of his brothers was killed overseas. The 159th Battalion (Algonquin Rifles) is one of the units that comprise the present-day Algonquin Regiment.
