The CCGS Amundsen is in Montreal for the International Polar Year 2012 Conference. In the winter, the CCGS Amundsen carries out Canadian Coast Guard operations, and in the summer, she becomes a veritable floating scientific laboratory. In 2007-2008, she sailed for 450 days nonstop to support several projects funded by the Canadian International Polar Year Program. A true catalyst for international collaboration, the vessel has previously supported the research efforts of over 500 scientists from 27 countries.
