Media Advisory: Entrepreneurial Champions Honoured at Global Entrepreneurship Week Canada Awards Presentation at the CN Tower

TORONTO, ONTARIO--(Marketwire - Nov. 13, 2012) - Members of the media are invited to join the Canadian Youth Business Foundation (CYBF) in recognizing the importance of entrepreneurship in Ontario and across Canada, and in celebrating the achievements of innovators and job creators who help launch start-ups that bring ideas to life and drive economic growth.

WHAT: Presentation of the 2012 CYBF Chairman's Awards:
• Best Business Award to five finalists competing for the 2012 National Best Business Award: Avenir Medical Inc. for Best Innovative Business; Growing City for Best Green Business; Oliberté Limited for Best Socially-Minded Business; and Fiddleheads Kids Shop Inc. for Best Emerging Business. Winners have differentiated themselves from competitors and carved out a solid niche in their market.
• National Best Business Award. This award is chosen from the five finalists and includes a $20,000 cash prize for business expansion. This prize is presented to the entrepreneur and business that can best demonstrate elements of growth, innovation and marketability.
• Outstanding Volunteers, including Queen Elizabeth II Diamond Jubilee Medals to Ontario-based business leaders for their tremendous support of young and emerging entrepreneurs.
• Entrepreneurial Educator Award to Dr. Alex Bruton, Associate Professor, Bissett School of Business at Mount Royal University and Educator-in-Residence at Trico Charitable Foundation for his significant contributions to Canada's economic growth and prosperity in the education sector.
• Entrepreneurial Spirit Award to John Dobson for his leadership and proactive role in fostering and supporting entrepreneurial development in 16 Canadian universities and for engaging the next generation of entrepreneurs.
• Outstanding Ontario Community Partner to Trenval Business Development Corporation for its instrumental role in fostering new businesses and successful entrepreneurs in Ontario.
