Volunteer Chartered Accountants are holding a series of Free CA Tax Clinics for Kingsville and Leamington residents with low incomes during March. As part of their commitment to the community, Chartered Accountants are working with the South Essex Community Council to help people by doing their taxes free of charge.
To qualify for this free tax return assistance, total household income must be less than $30,000 with dependents or less than $20,000 without dependents. People who qualify can book an appointment at these clinics by contacting Noreen Wiebe at 5169-326-8629 ext. 381.
Free CA Tax Clinics are a tradition for Chartered Accountants that date back to 1969. Today, they're held across Ontario from mid-February until the end of March. Last year, hundreds of volunteer Chartered Accountants and their associates helped low-income people receive much-needed tax credits and refunds by preparing almost 13,000 income tax returns.
These Free CA Tax Clinics operate in co-operation with a variety of agencies - including food banks, charities, hospitals, senior centres and homes, community centres, social service agencies and libraries. The Institute of Chartered Accountants of Ontario offers additional support to these agencies by providing them with an honourarium based on the number of tax returns prepared. This helps the agencies carry out their valuable work.
Reporters are invited to the clinics to learn more about the Free CA Tax Clinic program, the work of CAs in your community and the importance of filing tax returns, especially for people with low incomes.
