Pamela C. Fralick, President and CEO, Canadian Healthcare Association (CHA), is available today to comment on the Association's perspective on the health discussions at the Council of the Federation meetings in Halifax.
CHA welcomes the report from the Council's Health Care Innovation Working Group and believes that the Council of the Federation is ideally positioned to take up the following challenges:
- The need for more integrated health systems with greater emphasis on population health promotion and primary health care, and on home and facility-based continuing care, and
- The foundational importance of a re-energized and resourced pan-Canadian health human resources strategy.
CHA's Board of Directors views the emergence of the Council as a strengthened player in pan-Canadian healthcare discussions as a positive development. The Canadian Healthcare Association looks forward to working with the Council in the future to support its leadership in driving needed change for the health of all Canadians.
The Canadian Healthcare Association is the only federation of provincial and territorial hospital and health organizations across Canada and through its members CHA represents the broad continuum of the health system.
