TELLURIDE, CO--(Marketwire - Jul 25, 2012) - On August 20, athletes in the USA Pro Cycling Challenge will descend into downtown Telluride for their Stage 1 finish. This televised event will lead into the first ever KOTO Ride Festival, featuring music from Ben Harper, Big Head Todd and the Monsters, Los Lobos, JJ Grey & Mofro, and the North Mississippi Allstars.
The 2nd Annual USA Pro Cycling Challenge is a 683-mile course that begins in Durango and ends in Denver. Stage 1 of the race covers 125 miles between Durango and Telluride, which is expected to be one of its toughest stages, has riders starting at 6,512 feet above sea level, then climbing through the San Juan Mountains and over Lizard Head Pass where they'll reach an elevation of 10,200 feet before descending into downtown Telluride. This adrenaline-packed event is one of the USA's most anticipated and difficult races -- and counts former Olympians, world champions and Tour de France racers among its participants.
Following the stage finish in Telluride, local musicians will host a concert at Telluride Town Park. Then, on August 25 and 26, the music will continue with the KOTO Ride Festival, featuring Big Head Todd and the Monsters, Ben Harper and others. The two-day General Admission Festival Pass is $87.50, while the two-day VIP Festival Pass, which includes access to private restrooms, a VIP viewing area and Sunday brunch, are $187.50.
