Long Island Accommodations Join ECPAT to End Child Prostitution & Trafficking

Fairfield Inn New York Long Island City/Manhattan View Commits to Help in ECPAT's Mission

LONG ISLAND, NY--(Marketwired - Aug 6, 2013) - Child trafficking and prostitution isn't something that happens only in developing countries on the other side of the globe; nearly 300,000 children in the U.S. are at risk. Putting an end to this tragedy is the mission of ECPAT-USA, a nonprofit organization that has worked toward this goal for the last 20 years. This year, the Fairfield Inn New York Long Island City/Manhattan View was honored to join their mission.

As part of its Corporate Responsibility platform, this NYC hotel near LaGuardia Airport will work with ECPAT-USA to "develop, train and execute [their] initiatives in our communities." ECPAT-USA aims to aid three types of children: those who are exploited by Americans who travel abroad; those who are trafficked to the United States from other countries; and American children who are trafficked and exploited within the U.S.

These Queens, NY accommodations weren't alone in joining the fight; New York City mayor Michael Bloomberg declared May 20, 2013 ECPAT-USA Day.

In addition to supporting ECPAT, this Long Island event venue supports other organizations through its Corporate Responsibility program. Clean the World helps prevent the spread of disease worldwide through simple soap and water hygiene. The hotel collects normally discarded soaps and donates them to Clean the World, which recycles the products into bars of soap for distribution. The soap is then distributed to areas globally where at-risk health issues exist. Tourism Cares is another program under the Corporate Responsibility umbrella. The organization preserves the travel experience for the benefit of tomorrow's travelers by helping save important travel sites with financial assistance.
