Liquipel Signs Deals With Malaysia, Indonesia, Hong Kong and China

Edison Award-Winning Company Is Bringing Watersafe Technology for Mobile Phones to Asia

NEW ORLEANS, LA--(Marketwire - May 9, 2012) - Liquipel, a new company with proprietary methods to make smartphones and other mobile electronic devices and gadgets watersafe on both the production and after-market sides, has announced today that it has entered into agreements with Vision Tech Corporation and Tech Star Communications, Ltd., to provide their cutting-edge protection to mobile customers in Malaysia, Indonesia, Hong Kong and mainland China.

These developments translate to over $50 million in licenses since Liquipel first debuted at the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) in January 2012. More recently, Liquipel earned a Silver Award for Enhanced Functionality in the Material Science category at the Edison Awards in New York City on April 26.

Using the latest advancements in nano-coatings, Liquipel's patented and patent-pending process creates a liquid-repellent coating that is 1,000-times thinner than a human hair but will last the life of the device. It not only exceeds cell-phone manufacturers' requirements but actually creates a new category for water-safe electronics.

The protective process can be introduced to fully assembled devices or integrated into the manufacturing line itself. The device is placed in a temperature-controlled vacuum chamber into which the proprietary formulation of Liquid repellent particles is introduced in a vapor form. Ionized particles are then introduced, which decompose, polymerize and bind the formulation to the device at the molecular level. Thirty minutes later, the process is complete.

Liquipel is virtually untraceable and will not affect nor compromise the look, feel and performance of the device.

With 82 million of the world's mobile phones suffering water-damage each year, the arrival of new waterproofing technology will be celebrated by many users. The new technology will be initially launched in July of this year.
