WILBRAHAM, MA--(Marketwire - May 26, 2011) - Ice cream lovers have some new treats in store at their local Friendly's. The family friendly restaurant announces their 2011 ice cream flavor and product additions -- for eat-in and at home enjoyment.
Now, thanks to a new license agreement between Friendly's and the Girl Scouts of the USA, Thin Mints® fans can enjoy the top-selling Girl Scout Cookie variety anytime in a new frozen confection. The minty, chocolaty cookie is incorporated into and on top of Friendly's premium chocolate ice cream to create an Ice Cream cake with a crunchy Girl Scout Thin Mints Cookie Center.
"We're excited about our new Thin Mints Cookie® Ice Cream Cake," said Bob Squires, senior director and general manager of retail sales and marketing for Friendly's. "The Girl Scouts Thin Mints Cookie is a taste of childhood for many of us -- and a favorite of today's children, too. When you bring together two great tastes like our creamy chocolate ice cream and this perennial favorite cookie, you have a winning combination."
Families can also enjoy five new Friendly's 48-ounce carton flavors at home. Chocolate Marshmallow Swirl blends premium chocolate ice cream with a swirl of fluffy marshmallow and Vienna Mocha Swirl Frozen Yogurt combines coffee frozen yogurt with mocha chunks and a thick, rich fudge swirl. Two new Sundae Xtreme flavors bring excitement to the 2011 additions: Sundae Xtreme Caramelot -- vanilla loaded with caramel swirl and caramel-filled chocolate cups and Sundae Xtreme Extreme Fudge Swirl -- vanilla swirled through with both thick and creamy fudge. Finally, this year's Limited Edition flavor is Graham Central Station -- a graham-flavored treat with chocolate covered honeycomb candy pieces and sweet graham cracker swirl.
For smaller appetites, or ice-cream lovers who are watching their waistlines, Friendly's introduces new single serve ice cream cups. The new snack size cups come in 5.3 ounce size and are available in six classic flavors: Vanilla Bean, Forbidden Chocolate, Chocolate Chip, Mint Chocolate Chip, Black Raspberry and Coffee. For those who like to dip their spoon into layers of flavor, Friendly's has added two new varieties to its popular Sundae Cup line: Keebler® Grasshopper® Fudge Mint Cookie Sundae, that tops Friendly's premium mint chocolate ice cream with delicious fudge and crushed Grasshopper cookie pieces; and an Ice Cream Cake Sundae that's like a slice of ice cream cake in a cup, layering vanilla ice cream with chocolaty crunchies, chocolate ice cream, topped with vanilla flavored icing and confetti.
