HARRISONBURG, VA--(Marketwire - Oct 3, 2012) - For decades, LEGO® building blocks have captured the imaginations of kids of every age. From simple towers to elaborate scale models, those colorful little bricks have inspired creativity -- and on December 8-9, 2012, they'll help showcase problem solving through engineering, at the Virginia FIRST LEGO® League Competition. The Fairfield Inn & Suites in Harrisonburg, Virginia is proud to host competitors of this exciting event.
Combining a hands-on interactive robotics program with a sports-like atmosphere, FIRST LEGO® League (FLL) is a result of an exciting alliance between FIRST (For Inspiration and Recognition of Science and Technology) and the LEGO® Company. Guided by adult mentors and their own imaginations, FLL students solve real-world engineering challenges, develop important life skills, and learn to make positive contributions to society.
Each September, a new challenge is unveiled to FLL teams across the world. Over the ensuing 8 weeks, the teams strategize, design, build, program, test and refine a fully autonomous robot using LEGO MINDSTORMS™ technology. 2012 marks the third year that the Fairfield Inn will be hosting competitors for the Central Virginia Regional Tournament in Harrisonburg.
