LAS VEGAS, NV--(Marketwire - Jun 30, 2012) - The Las Vegas wrongful death lawyers at Bernstein & Poisson, which is a team of attorneys who represent families who have lost loved ones due to the negligence and/or recklessness of others, hereby announce that the firm has reached a pre-lawsuit settlement agreement with two insurance companies involved in the aftermath of a fatal Las Vegas DUI accident that took the life of a young man. This settlement allows the firm and the other parties to avoid filing a Nevada wrongful death lawsuit.
Specifically, the Las Vegas wrongful death attorneys negotiated the pre-lawsuit settlement with Nationwide Insurance and USAA, and the settlement involved a fatal Las Vegas DUI accident that took the life of the firm's client, Paul Jonathan Maidman, who was 28 years old at the time he was killed in April of 2010. The other motorist involved in the crash, Miranda Dalton, was ultimately arrested after the collision and is now serving a prison term of 8 - 20 years, which is the maximum sentence allowed in these cases.
The terms of the settlement between the Las Vegas wrongful death attorneys at Bernstein & Poisson and USAA and Nationwide Insurance were kept confidential, but the recovery will be provided for the family of Mr. Maidman to compensate for the different forms of loss that they have incurred since his death two years ago.
The Las Vegas wrongful death lawyers at the firm are relieved to be able to put this matter in the past without having to proceed to litigation. The attorneys at the firm also hope that tragic situations like this one will ultimately lead to a law being enacted that would require DUI-related education for those looking to obtain a Nevada driver's license for the first time.
