PALO ALTO, CA--(Marketwire - Aug 8, 2011) - Box today announced it has been named a leader in enterprise mobile collaboration by Forrester Research, Inc. in the August 2011 report, "The Forrester Wave™: Mobile Collaboration, Q3 2011." Forrester's current offering scores are determined by how many smartphone and tablet platforms the product runs on and by scores for security, administration, and user reviews. Box and twelve other competing vendors were ranked based on their commitment to tablets and smartphone platforms and developing a mobile strategy that aligns with the needs of the mobile workforce -- including cloud reach, enterprise readiness and platform alignment and support.
According to Forrester, mobile collaboration now requires a new app approach. The report states, "We now live and always will live in a multi-device world, where companies and consumers choose different smartphone and tablet platforms and expect to get apps on all of them. This means that companies need vendors that already support the most important mobile platforms: iOS, Android, and RIM, as well as Windows and Macintosh computers and the common browsers."
"The demand for mobile productivity is greatly accelerating enterprises' transition from locked down legacy solutions to cloud platforms, driven by rampant adoption of mobile devices from end users and IT departments alike," said Aaron Levie, co-founder and CEO of Box. "We believe the future of enterprise mobility won't be owned by any one platform -- rather, enterprises will need to enable secure content sharing and collaboration on a range of devices, and we're investing aggressively in making sure that Box is the #1 cross-platform solution in this category."
To date, Box has seen an increase of over six hundred percent in mobile customer implementations compared to all of 2010. Companies such as Pandora, TaylorMade, Clear Channel and Six Flags are successfully building collaborative mobile workforces and realizing the benefits of Box's mobile solution -- which saves a typical company over 3,000 hours a month.
Box helps more than six million individuals and 60,000 businesses securely share and manage all their content-rich materials in the cloud. Along with Google Docs, the Box Apps Marketplace includes integrations with dozens of leading cloud solutions like Salesforce, NetSuite and Yammer, making Box content easily accessible across critical business applications. Today, Box's native app offering has received close to 400,000 iOS downloads, 100,000 Android downloads and is experiencing major traction with 10,000 web0S downloads within just four weeks of launching on HP's TouchPad.
The highest placement of Box's current offering in the Forrester Wave™ report is indicative of the growing demand for cross-platform mobile apps that strengthen the capabilities of the mobile worker. Launched in October 2007, Box's mobile strategy and app offering was evaluated by Forrester and determined as a leader in mobile collaboration based on its cross-platform support on smartphones and tablets. Box also received the highest score in mobile strategy scores for its mobile app architecture and organizational commitment. Box believes its leadership placement in the Wave of Mobile Collaboration is indicative of its vision to provide solutions that allow people to share, manage and access content from anywhere.
