MONTREAL, QUEBEC--(Marketwire - March 18, 2013) - Saint Joseph's Oratory has been bustling since March 10, for the 93rd novena dedicated to Saint Joseph - thousands of pilgrims streaming from all over, to this event whose theme is A Faith that Moves… Visitors from Quebec, from Ontario, from New Brunswick from the United States, from Latin America, and from Europe are coming to pray to Saint Joseph on this special occasion.
Pope Francis Chooses the Feast of Saint Joseph to Celebrate the Inaugural Mass of his Pontificate
The novena is building up to Tuesday, March 19, to the feast day of the Oratory's patron and "Protector of the Universal Church." To highlight the official entrance of the spiritual leader of the Catholic Church to his new role, the Office of Pastoral Ministry of Saint Joseph's Oratory will offer to its pilgrims a re-broadcast of the solemn inauguration of the pontificate of Pope Francis, who was elected on March 13, 2013. In cooperation with the Salt + Light Television network, the Mass will be shown on a giant screen at 9:30 AM in the Oratory's Crypt Church.
"At this joy-filled moment for Catholics around the world, what a beautiful opportunity to unite around Saint Joseph, Protector of the Universal Church, that he might guide Pope Francis in his new pastoral ministry," said the Oratory's Rector Father Claude Grou, CSC.
Pilgrims may assist at any of three Masses in the Oratory's Basilica that day: at 10 AM, with Bishop Paul Lortie of the diocese of Mont-Laurier; at 2:30 PM, with Archbishop Emeritus André Richard of the archdiocese of Moncton and at 7:30 PM with Father Claude Grou, CSC, Rector of Saint Joseph's Oratory. Les Petits Chanteurs du Mont-Royal boys' choir will sing at all these Masses accompanied by the Basilica's great Beckerath organ. Close to 15,000 pilgrims and visitors are expected on this feast day of Saint Joseph, a saint dear to the heart of the founder of Saint Joseph's Oratory, Saint Brother André, CSC.
