BANFF, ALBERTA--(Marketwire - Jan. 30, 2013) - Batman's Michael Keaton, James Bond's Pierce Brosnan, Academy Award winner Marcia Gay Harden and Breaking Bad's Giancarlo Esposito are the latest Hollywood stars planning to descend on Sunshine Village for The Fairmont Banff Springs Sports Invitational, January 31 - February 3.
The event raises funds for the Waterkeeper Alliance in Canada and the United States, an organization that is dedicated to protecting our waterways.
These new stars will join host Robert F. Kennedy, Susan Sarandon, Alan Thicke, Fran Drescher, Camryn Manheim and Lyle Lovett and his Large Band. Additional names of celebrities expected to be in attendance include Alicia Silverstone, Matthew Gray Gubler, Lorenzo Lamas, Cheech Marin, Mimi Rogers, Melissa Rivers, Cheryl Hines, James Edward Olmos, Jimmy Rankin, Melissa Gilbert, AJ Cook, Minnie Driver, Rob Morrow and Tim Busfield.
The stars will spend two action-packed days skiing and competing in fun events at the world-renowned Sunshine Village Ski and Snowboard Resort. Activities such as toboggan/snowshoe races and dual giant slalom races are well within public view to lift and gondola ticket purchasers. The event will culminate with a gala dinner at The Fairmont Banff Springs, and concert featuring Lyle Lovett and his Large Band.
"As the number one rated resort in the Canadian Rockies, Sunshine is excited to again help raise awareness and funds to preserve clean waterways in North America," begins Ralph Scurfield, President and principal owner of Sunshine Village Ski and Snowboard Resort. "Hollywood loves Sunshine and we are pleased to host this fun-filled event in support of the Waterkeepers Alliance."
Waterkeeper Alliance is the fastest-growing environmental movement in the world, uniting Waterkeepers who patrol and protect rivers, bays, lakes and streams on six continents-more than 1.6 million square miles of waterways. Waterkeeper Alliance is the leading voice for the world's waters with roots dating back to 1966, when a concerned group of commercial and recreation fishermen mobilized to reclaim the Hudson River from polluters.
This year's gala is open to the public. Individual tickets are $500 CAD per person plus applicable taxes. They are available through The Fairmont Banff Springs by calling (403) 762-1710, or emailing firstname.lastname@example.org
