IRVINE, CA--(Marketwire - Sep 19, 2012) - Help Share the Word, a nonprofit public benefit corporation established to draw awareness to the TARP Hardest Hit states Fund (HHF), launched recently to make the $7.6 billion in the U.S. Treasury's Hardest Hit Fund become known to those who are facing foreclosure. While these funds are provided through the Housing Finance Agency of eligible states and the District of Columbia, many people are unsure of how to access the funds and are unaware that they are available today to help.
In today's economic climate there are many homeowners still facing the possibility of losing their property. Options for relief have been available, but navigating the maze of information has become increasingly difficult. The Hardest Hit Fund is a free and simple program created by the government in an effort to help homeowners who have lost their jobs or income. This program has the resources available to make distressed homeowners' monthly mortgage payments on their behalf.
"Help Share the Word was created for the sole purpose of informing homeowners who are unaware that there are programs available to offer this type of assistance," said Sergio C. Muñoz, senior vice president for Help Share the Word. "The greatest obstacle to the success of this program is the fact that many of those people who would benefit most from the Hardest Hit Fund are unaware of its existence. The most important thing people can do to help is to simply spread the word that the resources our neighbors need are available through this fund."
The program has proven successful for those who have been made aware of the services being offered. As a result, the government has expanded the program. Since 2010 when the program was launched with $1.5 billion, it has grown to $7.6 billion, and has expanded from five to 18 states and the District of Columbia.
