LONDON, UNITED KINGDOM--(Marketwire - Sept. 20, 2012) - Handelsbanken has agreed a deal with MAG Developments to double the size of its Head Office premises at Manchester Airport to 14,318 square feet (sq ft). The bank has had its base in the 4M building since 2008.
With 132 branches nationwide, Britain is the fastest growing of Handelsbanken's home markets. The bank chose Manchester Airport to let from for further expansion because of its excellent access, facilitating the best possible support to the bank's nationwide branch network.
This space means Handelsbanken will take an additional 6,739 sq ft of office space in the 82,000 sq ft 4M office building, which has Grade-A BREEAM Excellent rating. The building is adjacent to Manchester Airport's railway station and ground transport interchange, The Station.
A new Metrolink line to the site is also under construction which will eventually provide further connectivity and access to Manchester Airport and the planned Airport City development.
Stephanie Mullenger, Property Director for MAG, said, "We are delighted to accommodate [Handelsbanken's] expansion. The deal also demonstrates our aims with our Airport City proposition. The surface access to the site for staff, in addition to flights, ensures that even before Airport City is developed out, Manchester Airport is already one of the most competitive business locations in the North of the UK."
Tracey Davidson, Regional Head of Handelsbanken, based in Manchester comments; "We are delighted with the bank's expansion here in the UK... Manchester Airport is a great choice for Handelsbanken. The location is logistically convenient with transport links throughout the country and across the world, and is popular with staff due to the amenities and facilities available on site."
