VICTORIA, BRITISH COLUMBIA--(Marketwire - July 18, 2012) - On Thursday, July 19, His Excellency the Right Honourable David Johnston, Governor General of Canada, will be invested as the Honorary Chief Commissioner of the Canadian Coast Guard by Deputy Commissioner Jody Thomas during a ceremony at Government House.

To mark the Canadian Coast Guard's 50th anniversary, the Governor General will award Diamond Jubilee Medals to representatives from the Department of Fisheries and Oceans Canada and Canadian Coast Guard for their significant contributions and achievements.
