The Fabulous Dialtones Mark First Anniversary of the Virginia Tech Massacre With Original Song "33 Gone"
| Source: The Fabulous Dialtones
WASHINGTON, DC--(Marketwire - April 14, 2008) - The Fabulous Dialtones, a Washington,
D.C.-based classic rock cover band, has written and recorded an original
song, "33 Gone," in remembrance of those lost in the tragic Virginia Tech
(VT) massacre on April 16, 2007. The Fabulous Dialtones' website
[www.thefabulousdialtones.com] will offer the song as a free download and
encourage listeners to visit the posted link to the Virginia Tech Recovery
website, which lists numerous VT memorial funds, including the Hokie Spirit
Scholarship Foundation, where individuals can choose to donate to any
charitable program.
"When I first saw the media coverage coming from the Blacksburg campus, it
was almost a surreal experience," said Tony Bardo, vocalist, guitarist, and
keyboardist for The Fabulous Dialtones, and Virginia Tech alum. "It was
hard to comprehend that the deadliest school shooting in U.S. history was
taking place on a campus where I, and so many other students, had so many
fond memories."
"As more details of the event came to light, it became an even more fateful
story as the man [Seung-Hui Cho] who had destroyed 32 innocent lives and
wounded numerous other individuals had not received proper treatment for
his dangerous, and ultimately deadly, mental health issues," continued
Bardo. "I wrote this song to help bring solace to those affected by this
unconscionable tragedy, especially the families of all 33 victims."
On April 16, 2007 on the Blacksburg, Virginia campus of Virginia Tech, a
lone gunman, Seung-Hui Cho, killed 32 people and injured many more before
committing suicide -- making this the deadliest school shooting in U.S.
history.
The Fabulous Dialtones will debut the song during a May 17 appearance at
Sully's in Chantilly, VA.
