VANCOUVER, BRITISH COLUMBIA--(Marketwire - Aug. 1, 2012) - Ecometals Limited (TSX VENTURE:EC)(BERLIN:GDQ)(FRANKFURT:GDQ) (the "Company") announces that effective August 1st, 2012, the board of directors has appointed Mr. Jeffrey Klein to the Board of the Company.
Mr. Jeffrey Klein has almost 30 years of experience in the base and precious metals markets. His industry experience includes Merrill Lynch, where he was a director in the capital markets division in New York, and Rothschild, where as a director based in New York, he was responsible for the bank's commodities marketing in North and South America. He is the managing partner of North Ridge Capital, LLC, a private equity investor he founded.
Mr. William Lamarque, Ecometal's CEO stated that "as one of the larger investors in Ecometals, Mr. Klein's appointment to the Board represents our intent to more closely align the interests of our shareholders with the strategic plans of the Company."
Mr. Klein commented that "Ecometals has survived through a very trying period. Beginning with the halt of our exploration activities in Ecuador as the government crafted new mining legislation, through the recent litigation in Brazil, where EC's position was finally vindicated, and criminal intent against us established, we emerged intact and ready to move forward. Possessing very attractive assets in Ecuador and Brazil, and a group of talented and dedicated staff in both countries, Ecometals is finally in a position to realize its potential. Especially compelling are the opportunities to expand our portfolio given the current weak valuations in the junior mining sector."
Ecometals Limited is a Canadian TSX Venture Exchange listed mineral exploration and development company focused on mineral resources in Latin America. Apart from its gold exploration in Ecuador, Ecometals also has significant manganese, iron and gold projects in Brazil at grass roots exploration and development planning stages.
